The Disease Management Programs are designed to help members who have chronic conditions, such as diabetes or certain types of heart disease. In collaboration with physicians, members get the resources and support they need to manage their condition with confidence.
Medicare Advantage plan members can receive health and wellness guidelines on how to help stay healthy and avoid disease. These mail-based programs focus on self-care and lifestyle changes.
Medicare Advantage plans offer Medicare-covered dental, vision and hearing benefits. Depending on the plan, members may receive additional benefits not covered by Original Medicare, such as preventive/diagnostic dental, routine vision exams, eyewear, routine hearing exams and hearing aids.
Note: Some Medicare Advantage plans incorporate dental services as an included benefit. Other plans offer dental services as an optional supplemental plan (rider) you can purchase separately.
A fitness benefit is offered to members of many Medicare Advantage plans and is designed specifically for people at any level of fitness. Depending on the plan, the benefit may include a basic fitness center membership or a Fitbit activity tracker. Some plans include both.1
Note: Some Medicare Advantage plans incorporate the fitness program as a plan benefit. Other plans offer the fitness benefit as an optional supplemental rider you can purchase separately.
Many Americans seek out alternative therapies in preventing and treating disease, healing illness and promoting health. Some Medicare Advantage plans include covered acupuncture and/or chiropractic care (availability varies by plan and service area).
Plan members can call this toll-free service 24 hours per day to talk with a registered nurse who can help answer their medical questions, help them take care of a minor problem at home or guide them to outside help if necessary. In addition to registered nurses, NurseLine also has a health information library with recorded messages on more than 1,700 health topics. (NurseLine is available on some, but not all, Medicare Advantage plans.2)
